The first time I went to a race track, I was immediately captivated. The second time, I took part in a race myself.

My father owned a road haulage business, so driving was part of our daily routine. Even as a child, I manoeuvred cars and lorries on the company’s premises.

My mother’s cousin is Gordon Johncock, two-time winner of the Indy 500… Maybe it’s in my blood !

You can opt either for pure racing cars (like single-seaters), or for models that look more like road cars (GT or Touring cars). The choice is obvious, there’s no contest…

Listed as a March 73B prepared by Mort Haaz, based in Santa Monica, California, the car raced in Formula Atlantic in North America.
Offered for sale in 2008 by Mike Finch in Austin, Texas, it was then re-imported to the UK by Greg and Terry Caton, who drove it for several years before selling it to Marc Mercer. It was from Marc Mercer that I acquired it, in part-exchange for my Formula 2 Ralt RT1.
The first time I saw this car was when I drove it at the Pau race – and I’ve never taken my eyes off it since.
