Getting to know each other
What's your background in motorsport ?
My passion for motorsport was shaped early on by Austrian drivers such as Rindt, Marko, Koinigg, and Lauda. At 16, I began kart racing, though I had to stop prematurely as I kept it hidden from my parents. Later, financial limitations prevented me from pursuing a driving career myself, so instead I focused on securing sponsors and helping to build a successful team that competed in Formula Ford, Super Vee, and F3 — until a tragic accident brought everything to a sudden end.
After a long break, I returned to motorsport around 2000, driving a Formula Ford Zetec. From 2004 onwards, I raced in Classic Formula 3 with a Ralt RT1 Toyota, eventually adding a Chevron B39 to compete in the Formula Atlantic class of Historic Formula 2.
Why single-seaters ?
Because only single-seaters are real race cars.
A few words about your car ?
The Ralt RT1 was one of the defining cars of its era, created by the legendary Ron Tauranac, who had previously designed every Brabham before Bernie Ecclestone took over. Its genius lay in its simplicity — a versatile platform that could be adapted to four different Formula categories.
The same was true of the Chevron B39. Designed by a self-taught engineer, it was quick, remarkably forgiving to drive, and visually striking.
As for efficiency… compared to modern race cars, it is striking how little was needed at the time in terms of materials, tools, and energy. A single modern single-seater now carries more wiring than several hundred cars from that era combined.
